Finishing Strong in 2026 — A New Chapter for 2027

Dear Parents and Students,

As we enter November, I would first like to congratulate all our matric students who have already completed some of their final examinations!

After months of preparation, countless hours of revision, and more mathematics and science than anyone probably wants to see again, the finish line is finally in sight.

To all my matrics: Well done! I know how much work has gone into getting you this far, and you should be proud of yourselves. However, we are not quite finished yet. Keep your focus, maintain your momentum, and give the remaining examinations the same commitment. A few more weeks of hard work will be worth it.

A word about the IEB Mathematics Paper 1

I also want to acknowledge the exceptionally challenging IEB Mathematics Paper 1 examination.

I know that many students walked out of that examination feeling disappointed, frustrated, and even defeated. Having worked through and analysed the paper myself, I certainly understand why.

Please remember that one difficult examination does not define your mathematical ability, your intelligence, or the effort you have invested over the years.

I am preparing a separate blog post examining the paper, its difficulty level, and how it compares with previous IEB examinations.

I will share this soon, as I believe both students and parents deserve a better understanding of what made this particular paper so challenging.

For now, please don't allow one examination to affect your confidence going into the next.

Over the past year, an enormous amount of work has been happening behind the scenes at WRMStudio.

Some of you will already have noticed changes to the website, the student library, and the systems we use. These are all part of a much larger transformation that has been in development for quite some time.

From 2027, WRMStudio will enter a new chapter, with a renewed focus on Mathematics and Physical Sciences, supported by a significantly expanded digital learning environment.

My aim has always been to provide individual, personal tuition. That has not changed. What is changing is the technology and infrastructure supporting those lessons, allowing me to provide a more organised, accessible, and effective learning experience for both students and parents.

There is quite a bit to share, so here is a breakdown of what you need to know.

1. Invoicing — Final 2026 Invoice

A reminder to all parents that one final invoice for the 2026 academic year will still be issued at the end of November, regardless of whether your child's lessons have already concluded earlier in the examination period.

This forms part of our existing annual invoicing arrangement.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank every parent for their continued support, prompt payments, and trust throughout the year. Your support has allowed me not only to continue providing lessons but also to invest in the studio's development and future.

It is sincerely appreciated.

2. A Brief Look at the 2027 Pricing Structure

There will be an adjustment to tuition fees for 2027, with lesson rates increasing by approximately 8.3%.

The new rates will be:

Lesson Duration

2027 Rate

30-minute lesson

R325

45-minute lesson

R487.50

60-minute lesson

R650

As before, tuition fees will be calculated according to the annual number of scheduled lessons and divided into 12 monthly instalments for students registering from January. This provides parents with predictable monthly payments rather than fluctuating invoices based on the number of lessons in a particular month.

An annual registration fee of R750 per subject will also apply, with a 30% discount on registration for each additional subject (R525 per additional subject).

The increase reflects rising operating costs, inflation, and the substantial investment made in the studio's new digital learning infrastructure. While I have tried to keep the adjustment reasonable, I have also worked to ensure that families receive considerably more value through the expanded services being introduced.

The full pricing breakdown, registration conditions, and payment structure are available in the updated 2027 Terms and Conditions on the studio website.

3. Term End Date — Friday, 4 December 2026

The final day of the studio's teaching year will be Friday, 4 December 2026.

I understand that some families may be planning to leave for their December holidays earlier than this date.

If you need to move any remaining lessons, please contact me as soon as possible so that we can explore available alternatives.

Please remember that lessons missed because of early holiday departures cannot be made up after the term has ended, nor can unused lesson credits be carried over into 2027, even if your child will be continuing lessons next year.

The earlier I know about potential changes, the easier it is to accommodate them.

4. Updated Terms and Conditions for 2027

The updated 2027 service fees, terms and conditions are now available on the studio website under the Services and Info sections.

In addition to the pricing changes outlined above, these documents explain the revised registration process, payment arrangements, lesson policies, and other important information for the coming academic year.

I encourage all parents intending to continue in 2027 to familiarise themselves with these updated terms before registering.

The goal of these changes is to ensure that the studio remains sustainable while providing a more comprehensive, efficient, and valuable service.

The aim is not simply to offer more lessons, but to make every lesson more effective.

5. Strictly Online from 2027 — An Important Reminder

I would also like to remind all parents and students that from January 2027, WRMStudio will operate strictly online. This means that travelling to students' homes for in-person lessons will come to an end.

This has not been an easy decision, particularly after so many years of teaching students face-to-face, but it has become a necessary one for several important reasons.

Financially, the increasing costs of fuel, vehicle maintenance, and travel have made travelling between students increasingly difficult to justify as a sustainable business practice.

Safety is another important consideration. Travelling between appointments, particularly during evening hours, presents risks that I can no longer reasonably ignore.

Logistically and operationally, travelling consumes an enormous amount of time that could otherwise be spent teaching, preparing lessons, developing resources, assisting students, and managing the studio. Traffic delays and unforeseen circumstances also disrupt schedules and occasionally affect the start of lessons.

Quite simply, time spent driving is time I cannot spend teaching or improving the service I provide.

By moving entirely online, I can manage lesson schedules more effectively, reduce unnecessary operating expenses, and dedicate considerably more time to the students themselves.

What About Students Who Struggle with Online Lessons?

I completely understand that online tuition does not work equally well for every student.

Some students find it more difficult to concentrate, remain engaged, or work comfortably without a tutor physically sitting next to them. I recognise these challenges, and I certainly do not want anyone to feel that their concerns are being dismissed.

However, I genuinely encourage students and parents who are uncertain about online learning to give the new arrangement a fair opportunity before deciding that it will not work.

Our lessons will remain individual, interactive, and personally guided, supported by the new student portal, learning resources, and progress-monitoring systems being introduced in 2027.

The teaching itself is not becoming automated or impersonal. Students will still be working directly with me, just through a different environment.

For families who believe this transition may significantly affect their child's learning, I warmly welcome individual discussions. We can discuss specific concerns, possible adjustments, and how best to support each student in an online setting.

These conversations will take place closer to the end of the current term, allowing us to plan appropriately before the new academic year.

I sincerely appreciate everyone's understanding as the studio makes this important transition. Although it represents a change to how lessons are delivered, my commitment to the quality of teaching remains exactly the same.

6. A New Studio Email Address

As WRMStudio moves further towards its dedicated Mathematics and Physical Sciences identity, it is also time to retire our previous studio email address.

It has served us well over the years, but a new chapter deserves a little housekeeping too!

Our new studio email address is:

This address will become our primary email address from 2027 onwards.

Please save it to your contacts. I also ask that you check your spam or junk folders during the transition, as messages from the new address may initially be filtered incorrectly.

7. Pre-Register for 2027 — Secure Your Place!

With a significant number of our matric students completing their school careers this year, several lesson slots will become available for 2027.

However, lesson availability remains limited, and I would like to give both returning families and those interested in joining the studio an opportunity to plan ahead.

I strongly encourage all parents intending to continue with WRMStudio in 2027 to pre-register as early as possible.

Pre-registration will allow you to:

  • Secure priority consideration for a place in the 2027 teaching schedule.

  • Receive first choice of available lesson days and times, subject to availability.

  • Indicate your preferred lesson arrangements before the new timetable is finalised.

  • Avoid the disappointment of finding that your preferred lesson times have already been allocated.

Official registration for the 2027 academic year will open in mid-January. Pre-registration will help me plan the timetable in advance and give those who have expressed their intention to continue priority when scheduling lessons.

Please remember that pre-registration is an early expression of commitment and that the official digital registration process will still need to be completed when it opens in January.

PRE-REGISTER NOW FOR 2027!

Don't wait until January to secure your preferred lesson arrangements!

To pre-register, simply visit the new website and click on the pre-register link to complete all relevant information. You can click the link below as well: www.wrmsonline.com

Existing families are encouraged to respond as soon as possible to retain priority when choosing lesson times. New families are also welcome to express their interest.

Pre-registration is not a substitute for official registration, and final lesson allocations will remain subject to availability and completion of the registration process.

A quick action now could make all the difference in securing the lesson schedule that works best for your family next year!

8. A Completely New Digital Registration Process

From 2027, student registration will take place digitally through the studio website.

The new registration system has been designed to simplify the process for both new and returning families.

When official registration opens in mid-January, simply select the Registration link at the top of the website.

A step-by-step registration wizard will guide you through the process, including the relevant student information, subject selection, and acceptance of the studio's terms and conditions.

Additional information about registration can be found under the Services and Info sections of the website.

This new system will also form the foundation of each student's online profile.

9. Digital Student Profiles and Parent Access

One of the biggest improvements for 2027 is the introduction of a more comprehensive online student management platform.

Every registered student will have a dedicated digital profile, allowing parents and students to access important information without having to request it from me each time.

Parents will be able to:

  • View upcoming lessons and their scheduled times.

  • Monitor their child's progress.

  • View payments due and relevant account information.

  • Request lesson changes directly through the platform.

  • Keep track of important lesson information.

Of course, parents are still more than welcome to contact me directly about lesson arrangements. The new platform is intended to make communication easier, not to replace the personal relationship I have with families.

Students will also be expected to log into their student portal for each lesson to check homework, lesson information, and any additional work assigned.

Looking further ahead, the studio is also developing its own integrated online conferencing system. The intention is for students eventually to attend their online lessons directly through their student portal, without relying on separate conferencing services.

This is part of a longer-term plan to bring the studio's services together into one convenient environment.

10. The Student Library — One of Our Biggest Achievements

This is probably the development I am most excited about.

The WRMStudio Student Library has been in development for approximately a year and has undergone extensive testing, improvements, and refinements over the past few months.

Some students have already been using it, and while there are still many additions and refinements to come, the platform has reached a level of stability where it can become a much more important part of our teaching environment.

The library provides students with access to organised educational resources and support material that complement their weekly lessons.

But for 2027, we are taking things a significant step further.

Introducing Assessment Analysis and Progress Tracking

The next stage of development introduces a system where students will be able to upload their school Mathematics tests, examination papers, and assessed work directly to the library.

These assessments will be analysed using WRMStudio's own locally hosted, private artificial intelligence system, which operates on the studio's own server.

The system is being developed to:

  • Analyse assessment performance across different mathematical topics.

  • Identify recurring mistakes and areas of misunderstanding.

  • Provide structured feedback on where students went wrong.

  • Track progress across individual sections of the curriculum.

  • Highlight topics requiring additional attention.

  • Help identify patterns of inconsistent practice or stalled progress.

Over time, this information will contribute to a more detailed progress profile for each student.

For me as a tutor, this is incredibly valuable.

Instead of waiting until a major examination to discover that a student has been struggling with a particular concept for weeks, I will be able to identify developing problems much earlier.

It will also help distinguish between genuine conceptual difficulties and situations where insufficient practice or incomplete homework is holding back progress.

That means I can direct our limited lesson time towards the areas where it will make the greatest difference.

A Very Important Note About Artificial Intelligence

I want to make something absolutely clear.

This is NOT a system designed to give students homework answers.

I do not encourage students to use artificial intelligence to complete their homework, bypass the learning process, or simply obtain answers without understanding the work.

In fact, I strongly believe that becoming dependent on AI-generated answers can do more harm than good when students are still developing their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Our system is being built for analysis, feedback, and identifying learning gaps — not replacing the learning process itself.

All AI-assisted analysis will remain under my supervision and moderation.

Students will continue to receive real explanations, real guidance, and real answers from a real human being during their weekly lessons.

That is what you pay me for, and that is something I have absolutely no intention of changing.

Technology should support good teaching, not replace it.

I am particularly proud that this system is being developed and hosted locally within the studio rather than simply handing our educational processes over to a third-party AI service.

It has been a challenging project, but I believe it will become one of WRMStudio's most valuable teaching tools.

And we are only getting started.

11. Please Help Spread the Word!

Finally, I have a small favour to ask of all our parents and families.

This year marks an important milestone for WRMStudio, with a significant group of long-standing students reaching the end of their school careers and completing matric.

While it is incredibly rewarding to see students reach this point, it also means that a substantial number of places will become available for new students in 2027.

With all the investment and development that has gone into the studio, maintaining a healthy student base is particularly important as we enter the new year.

I will therefore be sending out a WRMStudio 2027 advertisement via WhatsApp to all parents.

I would be extremely grateful if you could share it with friends, family, local community groups, school parent groups, or anyone you know who may be looking for Mathematics or Physical Sciences tuition.

If you have direct contact details for the newsletter, communications, or marketing department at your child's school, please send those to me as soon as possible.

I would love the opportunity to have our advertisement included in school newsletters or other relevant school communications.

Word of mouth has always been one of the greatest sources of support for my studio, and many of the families I teach today originally came through recommendations from other parents.

Every recommendation, referral, or shared advertisement makes a genuine difference.

Thank you for helping me reach the next generation of students and keep the studio growing for another year!

One More Month — Let's Finish Strong!

With just over a month remaining until our studio year comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on how much has changed during 2026.

It has been an exceptionally busy year, both in lessons and behind the scenes, but also one of tremendous growth and development.

To my matric students who will soon be moving on to the next chapter of their lives: it has been a privilege to be part of your journey.

To my returning students: I look forward to building on everything we have achieved this year.

And to all the parents who continue to place their trust in me, thank you. Your continued support makes all of this possible.

Let's make this final month count!

One last reminder before I go: please remember to cast your vote this Wednesday, 4 November, in the Local Government Elections. Take the opportunity to have your say in the future of our communities.

Need More Information?

I understand that there are quite a few changes being introduced for 2027, and naturally, these may raise some questions.

For more detailed information and comprehensive explanations regarding the new pricing structure, registration fees, studio policies, digital systems, and services, please visit the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section on the WRMStudio website.

The FAQ section has been updated to address many of the questions parents and students may have about the changes and what to expect in 2027.

And, as always, if there is anything you would still like clarified, you are more than welcome to contact me directly.

Wishing everyone a productive and successful November!

Warm regards,

Werner Richards
